Chad Haselhorst

VP/Portfolio Manager

As Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Capitaline, Chad conducts the financial analysis and modeling for potential investments and monitors investments in current portfolios. He is active in the oversight of a number of Capitaline’s portfolio companies and has constructed comprehensive financial models for analyzing ethanol, biodiesel and wind power companies as well as farmland values throughout the Corn Belt. At Capitaline’s Brookings office, Chad provides investor relations services and currently sits on the board of Minnesota Soybean Processors representing the firm’s investment interests in this company.

Chad graduated from South Dakota State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics and a minor in Ag Marketing. He grew up on a family farming operation in north-central South Dakota and has been actively involved in the operation with his father and brother since. Chad owns 1,300 acres and rents additional land to operate a 1,950 acre cash grain operation, where he raises corn and soybeans.  He has practiced complete no-till farming for the last 15+ years and has seen yields increase from the improved soil health and additional organic matter resulting from this practice.  He has also participated in the Conservation Stewardship Program since 2013.

Chad and his wife Ashlee live near Brookings and have five children, Taya, Thatcher, Otto, Ledger, and Holland.
